Use an Electric Dog Fence to Keep Your Dogs From Running Away

!±8± Use an Electric Dog Fence to Keep Your Dogs From Running Away

When you first get a new puppy or dog, one of the first things that you will need to do is figure out how you are going to keep the dog from running away and in your own yard. Buying and placing a fence in the yard is an expensive and high maintenance chore. Luckily today you have the opportunity to buy an electric dog fence that is affordable and easy to setup.

This electric fence gives you the peace of mind knowing that your dog isn't going to run away and you don't have to enclose the yard with an unattractive fence to do so. This way, your dog can play and run free without you having to worry about it going too far.

There are a few different types of electric fences you can get to keep your dog safe and sound in the comforts of your own property. You can get an underground or wireless electric dog fence. Here's a brief explanation about how both of them work.

The underground fence works by the owner (you) placing a small strip of wire around the property. You can dig a very small trench on the boundaries where you want to limit the dog from going. Most underground fences come included with ties and/or staples so you can place the wire on posts rather than having to dig it in.

The electric fence works as a training vehicle for your dog so that it starts to learn where its boundaries are. Whenever the dog gets close to the wired fence, an electric signal is sent through the collar of the dog and delivers a short yet non-harmful electric shock to the dog.

With time, the dog will make the associative connection of where its boundaries are, and will no longer go near where it is supposed to go. Certain boundary markers like flags are also a good idea so that the dog can make a visual connection of its boundaries as well. Eventually, the dog will not go beyond its boundaries even if the fence and/or collar are not activated.

A wireless electric dog fence works in the same regard as the underground fence, but it instead sends a radio transmission signal to the collar. If the dog ventures out of the range of the signal (you can set it to transmit as far as you want) it will deliver the shock.

Goose Hunting Tips and Tactics

!±8± Goose Hunting Tips and Tactics

Goose hunting season will soon be upon us and hunter across the nation will be busy preparing their decoys, blinds, and calling skills in anticipation of an enjoyable hunting season to come. For those first starting out though they may be thinking of where to start or how to go about setting up a successful hunt. This article will explain the fundamentals of scouting for geese, goose decoys and decoy spreads, goose calling, and blinds.

Scouting
The most important element of any successful goose hunt is to know where the geese want to be and for the hunter to be there invisible. Mastering this simple element of hunting success is required through out the season. Knowing where the geese roost and the types of food sources geese use through out the hunting season can help make this daunting task easier. By knowing where the geese roost every night it is simple task to simply arrive before they leave and let them show you the field/s they are feeding in. It is also important to note their flight pattern at this time and the fields they are flying over. If for some reason you are unable to get permission to hunt in the field they are landing in, then you have a back up plan by hunting a field they are least flying over. A a general rule of thumb hay fields and pastures are early season goose hunting magnets, especially if there is a creek running through the field. As temperatures get colder, or chopped corn fields become available geese can very quickly switch from grass to grain. But only scouting will confirm this switch. For consistent success no other element is more important than simple scouting.

Decoy Spreads
While many goose hunters will set out as many decoys as they own, they may being going through a lot of extra work. Knowing how many goose decoys to set out often goes back to your scouting. If you typically see about thirty to fifty real geese in a field there's no reason to set out a hundred decoys. In this situation having too many decoys in a spread may even spook incoming geese as they are not used to seeing that many geese in the field. An exception to this example would be if you are unable to hunt the field where you observed the geese landing and are going to hunt a field they are flying over. In this situation I would throw everything you own at them.

Calling
Although fancy goose calling sounds heard on stage grab other hunter's attention, simple goose sounds such as clucks and moans still put the majority of geese into a decoy spread. It is much more important that you use sounds that you have mastered versus sounds that you're still practicing when in the field. During the early season this is very evident. After calling in a flock of geese and shooting a few birds don't stop calling, as odds are some of the younger geese of the flock will come back again.

Hunting Blinds
Trying to hide in a pasture or recently cut hay field can be challenge. Before setting up blinds in this situation first look for natural cover options as they tend to offer the best concealment that the geese are used to if available. Maybe a creek with taller banks, a fence line, or standing corn can offer adequate concealment. If natural cover is not an option then the lowest profile blind possible should be used. Be sure to attach as much natural cover to the blind as possible. Don't forget to cover your face with a head net or face paint, as well as your hands.

The Wi Fi Waterproof Collar Transceiver is extremely small at 2.5"" in width, 1.5"" in tall and only 1.25"" deep. It only weighs 2.3 ounces, yet is packed with advanced electronics. The collar can be preset to one of 4 fixed static correction levels or a Progressive Correction setting. When approaching the preset boundary the collar emits a warning tone. If your dog continues to approach the boundary the preset correction level will be triggered. If you have selected setting 5 then Progressive Correction will be triggered. Progressive Correction starts at the lowest level. If your dog continues toward the boundary the internal microchip will continually increase the correction level based on the speed your dog is approaching the boundary and the distance your dog is away from the boundary. You can monitor this from your Smart Wi-Fi Base Station. In a multi-dog system, each collar can be independently programmed allowing you to customize your system for the temperament of each dog. Should your dog leave the Safe Zone the Correction will halt after 30 seconds. The Perimeter Wi-Fi Pet Fence includes a battery charger built into the Transmitter-Base ""Smart Station"" and two rechargeable batteries. Just put the fully charged battery in the collar and the drained one in the Smart Station. The Base Smart Station charges the battery while it monitors the charge level of the battery in the collar. When the battery in the collar gets low, take the fully charged battery from the Base Smart Station and replace the battery in the collar -- save money not buying replacement batteries. Battery recharge time normally takes 3 - 4 hours. When the battery in the Smart Base Station is fully recharged, it will act as a battery backup for 8 hours should the household power go out. This safety feature allows for continual safe operation and containment of your dog.NOTE: This product may not be used around a metal roof, large metal structures, or buried wires.

Jack Russell Agility Training

!±8± Jack Russell Agility Training

Different dog breeds possess impressive traits and characters peculiar to their kind but the Jack Russell Terrier is probably the most assertive and versatile breed there is. They do not cower away from challengers twice their size and have the ability to adapt to extreme environmental conditions. These traits could be traced from their origins as being hunting dogs.

The intelligence and boldness of Jack Russell Terriers make them very competent challengers in Dog Agility, a dog sport which stands true for its name as it is an event where the handlers lead their dogs to jump, weave through, or bound over a series of hurdles. However, on-lead agility is something solely found in the world of Jack Russell agility. It aims to get the canine familiarized to the sport as it recognizes the fact the many owners do not have the chance to work on the agility equipment of their pets besides in such events.

On-lead agility is subdivided into two levels, namely: Novice and Advanced. Novice On-lead Agility is for human-canine teams who have entered the competition for the first time. Dogs that have never scored one hundred ninety and above in any agility contest also fall under this category.

Jack Russell Agility Off-lead divisions include Starters, Agility I, II, and III Certificates, and Youth Agility. Competing dogs must work their way up in order to get to the next Certificate level.

There are a number or rules governing Jack Russell Agility. The most basic one is that no human is allowed to carry any object which can lure the dog and give support to its performance. Food, training devices, and toys are off-limits within ten feet in the vicinity of the agility ring. Although allowed to control the dog, tight leashes as well as leash pulls can be grounds for penalties. Dogs must also be one year old and above to qualify for the competition.

The key to train an energetic dog such as a Jack Russell to follow your commands is to make your training activities fun and interesting. Keep the sessions brief and ending on a triumphant note. Use a specific command for a different obstacle consistently to make it more effective.

Never use a choke-collar when training the dog. To make sure your dogs do not get hurt in the course of the training and competition, assess their health and age first. The hurdles encountered in the course of the competition may injure puppies and expend their energy to much thus they are not qualified.

Jack Russell Agility always keeps spectators riveted because of the contagious wave of energy and excitement these lively creatures exhibit. The terriers perform in their domain of high energy and keen behavior to take on challenges enthusiastically.
